The second canyon we experienced was just off the upper edge of Zion. A 3 mile walk from the town of Kanarraville. We took a long dusty red path up a hill behind the town. As we walked it started pouring rain so we took shelter under a tree with several locals. They said it normally only rains in the afternoon.
One of the houses next to the street called Kanarra Falls.
The road turned into a path and criss-crossed this stream...
...which lead to a gorgeous red canyon.
We couldn't count the waterfalls.
The canyon became really narrow at one point. It was four times as tall as this picture.
Here you can see half the height of the canyon.
Todd took off his shoes to walk through but later we both sloshed through shoes and all.
Looking strait up!
Cool little later to climb these falls. The rope really helped also!
Coming out of the really narrow section.
I didn't think we would be able to get past this boulder but Todd found a way to climb up.
Double tall picture.
A little oasis.
Later in the day there were thunderstorms and loads of rain. The power flickered twice and the lightning bolts were fantastic. It is so great to be back in an area of the country where giant storms happen quickly and disappear quickly! Afterwords there was a double rainbow!
The other side of the sky.
Todd and I are already making plans to come back to Utah. There is so much to see here and no way for us to experience it all this trip.
Awesome pictures, thanks for sharing them!
