Day 21 & 22

Day 21 we rolled into Colorado. We felt the effects of the altitude immediately and were yawning, feeling sleepy/drowsy, etc. But it was beautiful!

Lots of tunnels through the mountains

Lunch of mac & cheese at 10,000 feet or so... (that's the height of Mt. Baker)

We visited some old friends in Denver, CO. It was so good to see Nancy Keith(Prost), Janet Prost again and meet Justin and Charlotte!!

Nancy took us out for breakfast, we ate tons of food!

Nancy and her husband Justin's dog Zoe, a 13 year old Husky. She was so sweet!

On day 22 we left Denver and visited Rocky Mountain National Park. We drove up to a height of 12,000 feet into the meadows of the Rocky Mountains...

Epic heights!

Crazy chipmunks running around the cliffs like nobody's business

Up in the meadows

The land is so different at 12,000 feet. By this time we were starting to feel a little more used to the altitude.

This was fascinating. At 12,000 feet, the rock behind me is made up of two things: the top, dark chunk is an ancient piece of the ocean floor, complete with fossilized algaes, and the lighter chunk is the lava that pushed it up this far. Nature is amazing!

Rocky Mountain National Park is a great place to experience the Rockies and to get up extremely high without dealing with snow and ice.  There was so much to see but we were feeling the fatigue again and decided to keep moving toward Wyoming to visit our friend Sadie.
