We have been in on the road for about one month! Goodness, what a trip! So many different experiences! We arrived at my brother David's house Wednesday afternoon. Since then it has been a whirlwind of activity: including riding in David's convertible (that he has to hot wire every time he starts it), hanging a mirror and painting a kitchen (a job of David's at a house he is flipping), riding roller-coasters and watersides at Adventureland theme park, and multiple games of Settlers of Catan. We got to see Grandpa, Grandma, Dad and Mom as well as eat dinner with my bro. Andy and his wife Jenny and their sweet kidlin's! Phew, crazy fun!
David and Tim took us out for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Yummy!!
Todd and I enjoying dinner with the bros.
Settlers of Catan with cousin Jared and the bros.!
David and his saw!
Grandpa, Grandma, Mom and Dad! My favorite moments: Grandma saying, "I really like cutting young men's hair," to Todd and then Grandpa saying, "Where is your dehydrated water?" to David. David is going to go hiking in Colorado on Friday and he was borrowing a hiking pack from Mom. Grandma also juggled while playing harmonica. Grandma you are awesome!
Riding to Andy's house.
Andy's barn!! Jenny has been making barn quilts for people's barns...they are really pretty!
Keith and wooden rifle!
Eleanne showing off her fort!
Andy, Todd and the cow (they do not name animals they eat).
View from the playhouse.
Beef Sundaes (Potatoes, beef and cheese)!! Iowa corn, fruit salad, rolls (homemade jam) and beans. Dessert: delicious french silk pie!!
Keith in his bedroom! Andy is a creative guy! The drawers on the dresser also have branches for handles!
Me reading a book to Elysha, Eleanne, and Elayne.
Andy, Elysha, Eleanne, and David pose for the camera while playing a game of Wits and Wagers!
Andy contemplating his next wager as Jenny looks on...
Thank you Andy and Jenny for the delightful evening! We really enjoyed being with you and your sweet kids! And Andy you are a better gambler than me! :)
Streaks of family fun!
After we left Andy's house at 11:45 pm, David went out and bought stuff for backpacking in Colorado. The next morning we put together his backpack! Have a great time David!!
Later that morning we did some metal detecting! Digging in David's yard for old coins!
Find of the day 1920's wheat penny! S mint!
Good Times!!
The cent cleaned up really nice and is a 1920 S; the oldest coin I've ever found with my detector. David and Tim said their house was built in the teens or 20s, so who knows how long ago it was dropped!
ReplyDeleteWent to the same area to see if I missed anything and found a 1919 wheat cent!
DeleteFantastic, Todd! How fun! Look like you guys have had just a wonderful time visiting with family & friends. Enjoy!!
